A Nice Fall Morning

The other morning, the sun was just starting to come up in the east. Of course it was, because where else would it come up? Anyway, I looked out in our front yard, facing the west, and I really liked the view. Everything looked nice, calm, and peaceful. So I ran for my camera and got this shot.

Hey look, there is the moon making its way down toward the horizon! Not really sure why, but I wanted to make sure I got the moon in the photo. So there it is. Even if it does look like a slightly large white speck here.

If you visit the site here often, you may be getting tired of all the views from this location. But I like how it can be different from season to season, and even from day to day. So I continue on.

Also, to me this photo is a lesson in the old phrase “you can’t go back.” Not that I can’t go back home, but rather that I can’t go back to old photo processing techniques. I have been seeing several people process photos with Photomatix lately, which is what I used to use for all of my photos. So for this photo, I took three bracketed photos, just like in the old days. But when I merged them together in Photomatix, I just couldn’t get happy with the result. So instead, I just loaded one exposure in Lightroom, and I got pretty much exactly what I was after.

I’m sure Photomatix is just fine for those who use it. And maybe I will give it a try again later on. But for now, I’m stuck in my current ways instead of going back to the past. But that’s okay.
