Morocco in Epcot at Walt Disney World
The central courtyard of the Morocco pavilion in Epcot’s World Showcase at Walt Disney World seems to be someplace far away from Central Florida.
Morocco has the distinction of being the second newest World Showcase pavilion. Never mind the fact that it opened in 1984. If you are wondering, Norway is the newest, opening in 1988. Time for some more new World Showcase countries, don’t you think? When Morocco first opened, I was disappointed that it didn’t have some sort of ride, but over the years I have come to appreciate what it does have.
Regardless of its age, Morocco has all sorts of unique views and angles. There are narrow alleys leading in all sorts of directions, and the pavilion is almost like a maze. The fisheye lens here allowed me to capture a couple of the different alleys surrounding one of the buildings in the center of the pavilion. I haven’t yet been to the real Morocco, but if it all were to look like this, I would probably never stop taking photos. Until my visa ran out and they sent me home.
There are also bazaar-like marketplaces tucked in among the alleys, and they are interesting to walk through, just to see what all is there. Despite the wide-open look that the fisheye lens gives, the spaces are rather tight, which actually just makes them more interesting. And the merchandise is all quite colorful, too, contrasting with the brown tones of most of the building walls throughout Morocco.
This photo looks like it could definitely be from somewhere far, far away in Africa, except for the distinctly Disney trash and recycle cans, and the girl wearing Mickey Mouse ears and a Nemo backpack. I guess you could find those things in the real Morocco, too, but it would be highly unlikely.
Also, I don’t think that any camels in the real Morocco actually wear a fez, but I could be wrong. But Laura and Jaylin were happy to stop for a photo with this finely topped camel, even if he did just have his nose up in the air. Surely all the camels in Morocco aren’t that snooty.
Lots to see in Morocco at Epcot, even if there isn’t a cool ride.

About the Photos
Because the evening was growing short, we took just a quick stroll through Morocco at Epcot on our last visit. But of course we still found time to snap some quick photos. And there wasn’t all that much done in the way of processing to these, either. Nice and easy.
