Miss Tilly at Typhoon Lagoon
Miss Tilly, a wrecked shrimp boat, sits atop Mount Mayday at the Typhoon Lagoon water park at Walt Disney World in Florida. As the legend goes, the big storm that hit the area and created the lagoon left the boat stranded at the top of the mountain. And as you can see, a geyser from inside the mountain erupts through Miss Tilly and out her stack every half hour.
Mount Mayday and Miss Tilly can be seen from almost anywhere in Typhoon Lagoon, and that often helps with navigation, much as how Cinderella Castle can be seen from most anywhere in the Magic Kingdom. And once you figure out the pattern to the geyser, it helps you keep up with the passing of time, too. Because otherwise you may be having so much fun that you don’t realize how quickly the time is passing by. Or at least that is what happens to us.
And besides all that, it just looks pretty cool, in a whimsical way, to see the boat way up there on top of the mountain like that. That is why I try to get it in most of my Typhoon Lagoon photos. Something you don’t see every day.
This is what I have observed to be good: that it is appropriate for a person to eat, to drink and to find satisfaction in their toilsome labor under the sun during the few days of life God has given them—for this is their lot. - Ecclesiastes 5:18
