Mighty Ducks at Disney's All-Star Movies Resort

A giant duck-shaped hockey mask marks one of the entrances to the Mighty Ducks buildings at the All-Star Movies Resort at Walt Disney World in Florida.

I recently accompanied Jaylin and his high school band and chorus on a spring trip to Walt Disney World. It was a fun trip, as I expected it to be. Most of us on the trip visited all four theme parks, and both the chorus and band performed at Disney Springs, which was great to see.

During our visit, we stayed at the All-Star Movies Resort, staying in one of the Mighty Ducks buildings. That was my first time to stay at All-Star Movies, although we had stayed at All-Star Music and All-Star Sports in the past.

However, some of us discovered that it was actually a shorter walk to the food court and bus stops of All-Star Music than to the food court and bus stops of our own hotel. So we spent a little time in Music as well. It pays to look at the map sometimes. But we were not being lazy or anything. I walked over 37 miles from the Wednesday to Saturday that we were there. Saving a few steps here and there was not a problem at all.

The Old Days

While we were there, I started wondering if any of the teenagers on the trip with us had even seen any of the Mighty Ducks movies or knew what they were. I asked Jaylin, and he said that he had heard of the movies but had not seen any of them. Parental fail, I guess.

And besides, the mask is really more from the actual hockey team than from any of the movies. That was back when Disney owned the hockey team, but Disney does not own them anymore.

But it was still a pretty nice place to stay, especially with a high school group. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves just fine.

About the Photo

For this photo, I set up my tripod for a long exposure. I had some extra time between when my group got back to the hotel and when we had to make sure everyone in the group was back, so I went for a nighttime walk around the hotel.

I am somewhat out of practice with nighttime long-exposure photos, so I figured this was the perfect time to see what I could do. It was fun to experiment. I remembered some of what I had forgotten, and I learned a little bit along the way. And I got a couple of decent photos, too. Perhaps I should practice that again sometime soon. Just for fun.
