Mickey Wreath at the Contemporary

One thing that Disney does well is decorated for Christmas. Or for the Holidays, if you prefer. As long as you know that the Holidays do not include St. Patrick’s Day. Although they may decorate for that, too.

And I like how they often use appropriate decorations for each location. Instead of just putting up Christmas trees all over the place, sometimes they use different touches. One such place is the Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World, where a giant Mickey-shaped wreath hangs outside of the huge glass window.

Actually, some would probably argue about this particular decoration. After all, it mainly looks like a large, lighted Mickey head. It isn’t necessarily Christmas-colored, because it just has white lights. And Mickey’s head isn’t even one of the recognizable shapes of Christmas. In the daytime, you can tell better that it is actually three green wreaths, although some of that is lost at night.

But after all, this is the Contemporary Resort, not the Grand Floridian with its highly Victorian-themed decorations. And a large, simple Mickey-shaped wreath could definitely be considered Contemporary. It works for me.
