Mickey Mouse Silhouette on the Disney Dream
Artistic Mickey
A Mickey Mouse silhouette is found in a metal railing on the Disney Dream cruise ship, as seen during our 2018 Christmas Disney Cruise.
There are fun little things hidden all over the Disney Cruise Line ships. Some of them are more obvious, such as Pluto on the stair rail, and other characters on those rails as well. But others of them are more subtle, such as this Mickey Mouse silhouette on the metal railings that surround the elevators in the Lobby Atrium. While the characters on the stair rails have faces, Mickey just appears in a random group of circles here.
That is just another one of those little touches that help make these ships unique. While the other cruise lines have some pretty cool designs of their own, Disney Cruise Line makes good use of the familiar Disney characters. They have an advantage in being able to draw from a large collection of things that most people are familiar with. And they use that well.
I do like taking some time to just look around and see what we can find. It seems that we see something different on each cruise, and all those little details are part of what makes the whole experience so interesting. There are things like that all over the ship, even in the stateroom corridors, and even in the staterooms themselves. I am sure there are even lots more that we have not found. Yet.
Hide and Seek
I am not always a patient person. I want things right now. And if I have something to share, I want it to be seen right now, too.
When I create a new post here at the Burnsland website, I want everyone to take a look at it immediately. Don’t wait! Check it out right now! But it does not always happen that way. Sometimes, some of the new posts barely get noticed at all.
However, sometime down the road, someone may notice one of the old posts. And they might share it on social media somewhere. That post might suddenly gain in popularity, even though it is a few months old, or even a few years old. Sometimes I check the Popular Posts section of the main Burnsland page, just to see what someone might have discovered.
It is pretty cool when a post that I have almost forgotten about suddenly starts to receive some interest. Almost as though I had hidden it there to be found sometime in the future. So I am more conscious of that now. Each new post that I share may not be for right now. It might be for later.
Patience. Wait for it. It can be rewarding.

About the Photo
This one was a little tricky because someone had parked their stroller right next to this railing. I could have come back later on when everyone had put their kids to bed (and their strollers in their rooms), I suppose. But this was the last night of our cruise, and I wasn’t going to have many chances to come back. So I did the best that I could and positioned the camera so that the stroller was just out of the frame.
I used my 50mm prime lens for this one. That was partly because of the low light in the lobby. But that was also partly because I wanted the tight focus that I got here. To me, it makes the artistic Mickey Mouse silhouette look even more artistic. One person’s blurry is another person’s artistic, I guess.
