Main Street Confectionery and Reflections at Walt Disney World
The buildings of Main Street USA are reflected in the window of the Main Street Confectionery in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.
As we were walking past the Confectionery, I thought the logo painted on the window looked pretty cool, so I considered getting a photo of it. But then when I noticed the reflection in the window, I was sold! Not sold on candy or the sweet things inside, however, but instead sold on the fact that I should get a photo. So I did.
In the reflection, you can see the Walt Disney World Railroad’s Main Street Station, along with the Main Street Hotel, where you can meet Mickey Mouse and some of the other characters, along with some people walking past, and even a fire hydrant. And then you can see some candy and the tiled floor inside the Confectionery as well.
It is interesting how at first you notice one thing, and then if you take the time to look a little harder you start to notice even more if you only take the time to look. However, some people might prefer that this photo was just of the window logo, and in that case, the reflection just gets in the way. And others might prefer to see inside the shop, and once again, the reflection keeps you from doing that. It’s all in your point of view, I suppose.
Also interesting is the fact that this is the second time this year the Main Street Confectionery has been featured in a photo here at Burnsland. If you need a refresher, here is the last photo:
The difference between the two is night and day, wouldn’t you say? Okay, bad joke. But that’s probably what you have come to expect around here. If you want high-class literature, this probably isn’t it. If you want interesting photos, hopefully, you feel that you have come to the right place.
Anyway, I’m not sure why I have so many (if two is many) photos of the same building after not taking many photos at all of this building over the last several years. Just coincidence? I’m suddenly magnetically drawn to sweets? Some subliminal message saying, “Give our shop some free advertising by taking lots of photos of it and putting them on your website!”? Probably just the first. Although I really want to say that it is the last one. But probably not.

About the photo:
To me, this looks like an old photo that might be in one of the old guide books, so I gave it a bit of a vintage look using Color Efex Pro from the Google Nik Filters. But the noise added in with that preset was a bit much for me, so I then turned it down a bit with Dfine noise reduction, another of the Nik filters. I think it turned out pretty cool.
And a note for next time: I might try a different aperture setting than what I used here (f/3.5) to see if the reflection would be blurred just a little more, making the logo stand out more. Not much more, but just a little more.
