Low Tide at Cocoa Beach

When we arrived at Lori Wilson Park in Cocoa Beach, Florida, it was obviously low tide, or somewhere around there, based on how far out you would have to walk to get to the water. And more than just that, it seemed like it was the lowest low tide that we had ever seen there. Maybe that was just me, though. Or maybe we aren’t usually there at low tide.

I know the serious surfers know how the tides affect the waves that they want and all that kind of stuff. But for us, we go when we can go and take the tides and waves that we get. No big deal - it is just interesting to notice all that stuff.

The people in the foreground of this photo do certainly seem to be enjoying low tide. And if they had still been there during the high tide time in the afternoon, they would have been sitting in water almost up to their necks. But they were long gone by then. Apparently, not everyone stays at the beach as long as we do. But that’s okay.

About the Photo

For this photo, the colors were originally pretty washed out, thanks to the overcast skies. In fact, you might almost think it was a black and white photo. So I played around with the colors a bit, ending up with this image that almost looks as if it were a hand-tinted old photo, or at least an old-fashioned post card of some sort.
