Looking Up at the Walt Disney World Dolphin
Way Up There
A blue sky, clouds, and a giant dolphin are above palm trees and terracotta colors at the Walt Disney World Dolphin hotel, as seen during our 2019 Florida Summer Vacation.
As we were making our usual walk around the Epcot Resorts during our trip, I noticed this view from down below the Walt Disney World Dolphin exterior. The path that we were on takes you right by the building itself. For whatever reason, I never had thought to look straight up before.
Here, you can sort of see one of the large dolphins that adorn the side towers of the hotel. You can also see the color that Michael Graves, the architect who designed this building and the Walt Disney World Swan, was so fond of. The towering palm trees add some real life to the architecture. And the clouds top it off nicely.
This was just a few minutes before I took the Patterns photo that was posted previously, in case you were wondering. If you can’t tell, I like the stylings and colors of the Walt Disney World Dolphin, and the Swan, too. Looking at them now, they do have a slight 1990s feel to them, but then maybe so do I.
Dolphins?
Because you can’t see it all that well in the first photo, here is a look at one of the dolphins at the Walt Disney World Dolphin from another angle.
As I have mentioned around here before, they don’t really look that much like dolphins to me. But I will take Michael Graves’s word for it. There is no doubt that they are fanciful fish creatures. And I suppose that the Walt Disney World Dolphin sounds much better than the Walt Disney World Fish.
Would you stay in a hotel named the Fish? It just doesn’t have quite that same happy ring to it, does it?
So then, dolphins they are!
Artistic License
It must be nice to have that certain stature that you can make a fish statue and call it a dolphin and everyone goes along with it. I am not sure that I could pull that off.
I wonder just a little sometimes when I give a photo of a well-known place a different look. Will someone say they don’t like it or it isn’t right?
But then I realize that it doesn’t really matter if someone doesn’t like it or not. Especially on my small scale here. So then I just do what I do and don’t worry too much about what other people think. Those that don’t like it are free to boycott this website if they so choose.
Of course, if your artistry is a multi-million dollar hotel that you want people to stay at, you might be at least a little more concerned about what people think. But maybe not too much.
We all have our different tastes, and there is nothing wrong with not liking something. But it does matter how you react.
I have learned so many times to just move along with my life and keep my negative opinions to myself. That makes everyone happier.

Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. - Ephesians 4:29
About the Photos
There is nothing all that remarkable here. However, I did use my artistic license to make the colors nice and bold, especially in the first photo. Feel free to either like it or not.
The first photo was also a little tricky. The clouds were very bright and white, and the building exterior was dark. Aurora HDR did a pretty good job of evening everything out.
