Laura on the Rocks at Paris Landing
Laura was walking on the rocks at Paris Landing State Park in Tennessee, as we were out for a walk on the shores of Kentucky Lake.
This photo is one more from our walk by the lake during the couples retreat last month. Except that this time we were at another part of the park, but still by the water, although you can’t see any water here. I was going to say our walk around the lake, but I changed it to a walk by the lake. Because if we tried to walk all the way around Kentucky Lake, we would probably still be walking.
A quick check of the good old internet shows the area of the lake to be 250 square miles (don’t you just love how you can find anything out very easily now?). And if the lake were a square, that would make its perimeter approximately 63 miles. I know that because I have been helping Jaylin with his math this year, and that is exactly the kind of problems they were working earlier in the year. So those of you in seventh grade wondering when you would ever actually use the math that you are learning now, there you go. Don’t forget it, because you just might need to use it for a blog post you are writing sometime way in the distant future. They will still have blogs in 30 years or so, right?
Anyway, given all of that, my statement that we would still not have walked around the entire lake by now would not be exactly true. My Fitbit reports show that I usually walk around 20 miles in a week, and I don’t even do that much serious walking to reach that total. And I did walk 45 miles or so during the week I was in Bangkok last year. And although I don’t have the data to prove it, I’m sure we walk about that much during a week-long Disney/Florida trip, too. So walking 63 miles in a month is definitely doable. If that’s your thing.
But wait, what does any of that have to do with Laura standing on the rocks by the lake? Absolutely nothing. But if I had written all of that without including a photo of a good-looking girl, you never would have bothered to click through and read any of it in the first place, would you? I didn’t think so. And if you are bored by now, just scroll back up to the top and enjoy the photo, and try to forget that you ever read any of this mumbo-jumbo babble stuff here.
Of course, if you aren’t bored, I can go on like this for quite a while longer. I could even throw in another photo or two if it would help. Like this one of the two of us at the same time:
And since a picture is worth a thousand words, I’ll just stop there.
The intelligent person restrains his words, and one who keeps a cool head is a man of understanding. - Proverbs 17:27
About the photo:
The sunlight that day was just perfect for photos, as you can see here. The angle of the late fall/winter/early spring sun is so much nicer for midday photos than the almost straight-down summer sun. I forget how nice it is in the summer, but it is great this time of year. Of course, it is even better when you have a good subject in that nice light, as I did here.
As far as processing goes, not much was done here except for a few of my usual presets when importing files into Photoshop through Adobe Camera Raw. And then a few minor adjustments in Photoshop as well.
