Laura, Jaylin, and the Gators

In honor of the return of college football this weekend, here are Laura and Jaylin with three of the Florida Gator greats: Tim Tebow, Steve Spurrier, and Danny Wuerffel. Of course, it isn’t really them, but rather statues installed recently at the University of Florida in their honor. It is, however, really Laura and Jaylin.

We enjoyed stopping by the University of Florida on our way south to Walt Disney World. And we enjoyed being able to walk through the Swamp when it wasn’t swamped with people. Although I’m sure the atmosphere there for a game is amazing.

The Burnsland List of Relevance

Like most red-blooded Americans, the Burnsland List of Relevance is excited about the return of the football season. Even though it doesn’t wear a big block of cheese on its head.

1. College Football – It starts this weekend. Yes, I have already said that. But there might still be some people that don’t know. Can you guess which team I like? Hint: It doesn’t have anything to do with the state I live in.
2. NFL Football – Not quite as exciting as college football, at least to me. That’s not to say I won’t watch it, though. We don’t discriminate in our house.
3. High School Football – Some of my favorite memories are of marching with the band at football games. And I was among those in the band that also paid attention to what was going on in the game, too.
4. Elementary Football – Jaylin has his first game next week. I don’t know who is more excited about it – him, or us.
5. Monday Night Football – If you wonder why we don’t answer the phone on Monday nights in the fall, now you know. Either that, or we just don’t want to talk to you.
6. Football Games – What better way than watching a game to spend a few hours. Or a holiday weekend.
7. Football Practice – I’ve learned a lot at Jaylin’s football practices. Such as how to keep my chair in the shade on hot days.
8. Football Fans – They wear crazy things on their heads, they dress up in crazy costumes, they paint their faces, they yell, they scream. And then there are those that are really passionate.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. – 2 Timothy 4:7-8
