Laura and Jaylin in the Wilderness
Laura and Jaylin walk along a boardwalk through a nature area at Circle B Bar Reserve in Lakeland, Florida.
As we had done on our previous Florida trip, we made a visit to Circle B Bar Reserve in Lakeland, which was about a 45 minute drive from Kissimmee and the Walt Disney World area. In fact, in looking back I see that I posted a photo from last year’s trip with this same title. Because when you find something good, you use it over and over again, I guess.
In addition to seeing lots of alligators as we had done the previous year, we walked along a new trail this time. Not that the trail was actually new, but it was new to us. And along that trail was this long boardwalk, which was actually a bridge over a swampy area. Just our kind of thing. To me, boardwalks and bridges always make great photo locations, so that is where this photo of Laura and Jaylin came from. You can’t really tell from this photo that it was hot and we were sweating, but it was and we were. But that’s okay, because we knew that is how it would be before we went, so we were ready.
In fact, by the time I took this photo, we had taken a break and had gone to eat lunch and cool off at McDonald’s, thinking that we would start back to the condo after that. But after eating and cooling off a little while, we decided we were up for some more, so we went back and walked on this trail. And to think that we almost missed it because of a little bit of heat and some growling stomachs.
Circle B Bar Reserve is pretty cool, even in the heat.
But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children— with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts. - Psalm 103:17-18
About the Photo
I was wanting a good bit of bokeh on the background for this photo, and opening up the aperture to f/1.8 gave me just what I was looking for. And some creative processing in Photoshop made it all look even better.
A single RAW exposure, processed in Photoshop. Read more about the photo software and gear I use at the camera gear page.
