Jaylin's Birthday

Today just happens to be Jaylin’s birthday. He was born nine years ago today. Of course, we didn’t really have much to do with that. We didn’t meet him until exactly eight months later. But that’s okay.

I happen to think he’s a really great kid. Of course, I may be biased just a bit. But then, shouldn’t all parents be?

Jaylin keeps us busy. He keeps us running. And he keeps us laughing. Back during our Walt Disney World trip, we were waiting for Soarin’ at Epcot, and the cast member there was trying to keep everyone entertained by telling jokes. She said, “What’s the difference between broccoli and boogers?” The punchline of the joke, of course, is that kids eat boogers but not broccoli. But Jaylin thought about it very seriously, and also very seriously said, “Boogers are flat and broccoli isn’t.” Which had the cast member girl in stitches, and the rest of us, too.

Here is Jaylin behind the wheel of a car. Fortunately for Laura and me, he isn’t quite old enough to drive yet, except for the Tomorrowland Speedway at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, which he loves. And he did get his Speedway License when he completed the circuit. But hopefully that’s only good there at the Speedway.

At least we still have a few years left!
