Jaylin on the Tree

One of the fun things about decorating the Christmas tree each year is finding ornaments from days gone by. Sometimes those ornaments were made as school projects in years past. Or sometimes those ornaments are keepsake reminders of the past.

This particular ornament falls into that second category. Jaylin did not make the ornament at school. Instead, we just put a photo of Jaylin inside the Christmas ornament that was also a photo frame. Way back when, around 7 years ago I believe, we had taken some photos of Jaylin to be Christmas presents for grandparents and great-grandparents. Of course, we kept some of the photos for ourselves. So now every time I see this ornament I remember that fun day of taking photos. And I wonder whatever happened to that little kid in the photo. Because some things change over 7 years’ time.

Busy Signal

This photo was actually from last year’s Christmas tree. That is because I have not yet had time to take any proper photos of this year’s tree. That is how busy everything has been for us lately.

That really is not a complaint. It has mostly been the good kind of busy if there is such a thing. It has not been anything bad. We just have not been at home quite as much as we might like to in the last few months. So maybe I will take some photos of the tree soon. And if so, maybe will just wait until next year to share them. Just in case we are busy again.

About the photo

For this photo, I used the natural light from the Christmas tree lights, along with the natural light coming in the nearby window. I used the f/1.8 prime lens with the aperture opened all the way up to let in as much light as possible. That created the tight focus on just one part of the photo. Yes, I know that the part of the photo that has Jaylin in it is not in sharp focus. I meant to do that. I think.
