I always enjoy seeing Illuminations every time we are at Epcot. But photographing fireworks has never been one of my strong points. One reason is that I don’t like to stake out a spot long in advance of the start time.

During our recent Epcot visit, the crowd was relatively light. And even though we just found a spot to watch Illuminations about 10 minutes before it started, it turned out to be a pretty good location. So I got out my tripod and got everything set up just in time for the show to start.

For a fireworks photography amateur, I think what I got turned out pretty well.

Observations of the Past Week

Happy Independence Day! And to those of you outside the U.S., happy July 4th! Which is probably just like any other day. (When do they celebrate July 4th?)

We discovered that our refrigerator is off-white. It had been decorated in the style of the “Early Magnetism” period. (It looked so strange naked.)

Long weekends really aren’t all that long. (And short work weeks still aren’t all that short.)

An empty dishwasher never lasts. (Just like a refrigerator without magnets.)

After a Monday holiday, Tuesday and Wednesday are confusing, but Thursday is obvious, because you always know when it will be Friday. (Friday - the one absolute of every week. Except the week of Thanksgiving.)

The M&Ms were calling my name. (And on top of that, they were saying, “Eat me! Eat me!”)

Almost time to go home. You know what that means! Actually, it means it’s almost time to go home. (What else would it mean?)

I did some of the best caulking I’ve ever done tonight. Which still isn’t saying it is good. (But it was good for me. That’s progress, right?)

So our whole office shut down for a while to watch the shuttle launch. Good stuff! And always amazing to see, even after 30 years. (The end of an era always seems so final.)
