Happy Halloween!
Happy Halloween! Which means that Christmas is just around the corner. What do you mean that you haven’t started your Christmas shopping yet? You are way behind!
Anyway, even though today is the actual day of Halloween, we have already had our Halloween activities for the year in our family, thanks to our church’s Fall Festival/Trunk or Treat this past weekend. Back when we were kids, it wasn’t anything at all to go around your neighborhood knocking on doors, but these days church events such as ours seem to be much safer. And much more popular.
As you can see, Jaylin dressed as a football player for our event. Convenient, because he already had all of the equipment necessary for the costume.
One of the activities of the Fall Festival was a photo booth so that parents could take photos of their children in their costumes. Also, it was decided that a good way to judge for the costume contest would be to take photos at the photo booth of those who wanted to enter, so I was volunteered for the job. But that turned into taking photos of just about everyone there, because everyone wanted to be in the costume contest since it didn’t require standing on the stage in front of everyone. I took well over 100 photos that night, but that was fine. And then I uploaded them to the church website so that those parents who didn’t bring their own cameras could download their child’s photo. The only downside was that my legs hurt the next few days from squatting down to be on their level.
Laura also dressed up as a bag of jelly beans. And for the Trunk or Treat portion, she decorated the trunk of our car to be a huge mouth that the kids would reach into for candy. Pretty cool, I think.
Because of where we live, we don’t get many trick-or-treaters at our house. I think we have had one or two in the past 13 years. But if there are any, we will be waiting at home with some candy. Just in case.
Happy Halloween!
