Getting a Different Perspective From the Barn Roof

If you are wondering, I had climbed up on the barn roof to try to stop a few leaks that had developed over time. Knowing the people that built the barn (that would be us), I don’t always want to put all of my weight in one spot, so I usually end up crawling around to distribute my weight just a bit more. But so far, it has always turned out okay. Although we haven’t had any rain since then to see if the leaks are stopped.
Anyway, whenever I am up on the roof like that, I am always interested to see how different things look from up there. I usually look up at the horses if I am next to them, because their heads are higher than mine, so it was pretty cool to be looking down on them like this. And I also got a slightly different view of our house, as well as of the woods behind the barn. I was glad I took my phone with me to get some quick photos.
So sometimes, when things start looking the same to you, maybe it is best to get a different perspective, and that might change your outlook a bit. I’m sure there is a message in there somewhere, perhaps even a good message for the first of the new year.
A new perspective can come at any time, but people start looking for new things at the start of a new year. And you don’t necessarily have to climb up on a roof to get a new perspective. Sometimes that new perspective can come from just deciding to do things differently, or making a fresh start. Or trying something that you haven’t done before.
And if you do go up on the roof for a new perspective, just make sure you don’t quickly end up with a new perspective of the ground. Safety first!
