The Family Beach at Castaway Cay

The Family Beach at Castaway Cay

Here is a view of the Family Beach at Castaway Cay, the private Bahamas island of the Disney Cruise Line. You can see the family of four beach chairs enjoying sticking their toes (do chair legs have toes?) in the water, while nearby an inner tube couple and a few families of humans enjoy the beach as well. See, the Family Beach is for all kinds of families!

And yes, I was standing in the water when I took this photo. I like to wade out in the water at beaches sometimes to get a view of looking back at the shore, because that is often the view that I have when I am at the beach, so I like to capture it on film, er, pixels. But I am always very careful to have my camera strap around my neck at those times. And I usually also have the strap wrapped around my wrist as well, just for good measure.

Those were some serious looking clouds over Castaway Cay that day, but they didn’t appear to stop anyone from having fun. Even the chair family seems to be smiling. And you know how hard it can be to please them.

He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!” - Mark 4:39-41

About the Photo

A single RAW exposure, processed in Adobe Lightroom. This one was a bit tricky, because various areas were either too light or too dark. Some spot adjustments in Lightroom helped to smooth things out. Read more about the photo software and gear I use at the camera gear page.
