Fall Colors in Tennessee
Fall has arrived on our street! Actually, this is about a mile down the road from us, because the trees in our yard never seem to have colors quite as vibrant as these.
At the start of the fall season every year, I find myself slightly jealous when my friends from the northern states post their photos of changing leaves, because at that time our leaves around here are still green. But then a few weeks later, our leaves finally catch up, about the time the northern folks are getting their first dusting of snow. And personally, I would rather have late changing leaves than snow any day. So it is good to be patient and wait for the leaves to change in their own time.
I really like this section of our street, where the trees grow tall above the roadway, blocking out a good bit of the sun. And then at this time of year when the colorful leaves cover the ground, this area is even better. So that is the downside of not having any tall trees right by our house. But the upside is that we don’t have any tree limbs that might fall on our house, and we don’t have to get on the roof and sweep the leaves off. So that’s a plus. We do have lots of trees in the wooded area of our property, in case you are wondering, but just not right by our house. And not this colorful, either.

About the Photo
For this photo, I pulled off the road into a cemetery. Yes, a cemetery. More on that another time. I wanted to get the early morning light, but because the sun comes up so early now, it was already good and light by the time I got out there. Oh well, at least I like how the sun was lighting up the trees in the background.
