Evening at Cinderella Castle
Glowing Castle
Cinderella Castle glows in the evening hours in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, as seen during the 2019 Band and Chorus Disney Trip.
Looking back through past posts, I have not shared any Cinderella Castle photos in quite a while. That is because I have not taken any Cinderella Castle photos in quite a while. Before this past trip in March 2019, the last time we were at the Magic Kingdom was December 2016. I guess we don’t get to the parks as much as we used to. And that is okay with me.
Anyway, on this particular evening, I was walking down Main Street USA with some of the other band chaperones. If you have been to the Magic Kingdom, you know that you can’t walk down Main Street USA without taking a photo of Cinderella Castle and still call yourself a photographer. At least that is what I have heard. So I did, and this is what I got.
Blue Tones
I liked the way the evening sky was nice and blue. And the filtered sunlight that was left was nice and blue, too. I wonder why they call this time the blue hour? But then I also liked how the night lighting on Cinderella Castle was starting to show, too.
And then there is that one light at the left of the frame. That light seems to be a little distracting as if it does not quite belong. It adds an area of yellow that wouldn’t otherwise be there. I thought about cropping it out. I thought about trying to digitally remove it. But then I decided that it was there in real life, so it would be there in my photo, too. So there it is. Because it is there. And you might not have thought anything about it if I had not mentioned it.
Sometimes we spend way too much time worrying over little things that do not matter at all. Things that seem important to us may not really matter in the long run. And they may not matter to anyone else besides us.
If you feel yourself being overwhelmed by the details sometimes, take a step back. Look at things from another angle. Decide if those details are really as important as you are making them out to be. If so, do the best you can to do something about it. If not, move along to something else.
Don’t try to make big things out of little things if the little things aren’t worth being big things!
Bible Verse
“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?" - Matthew 6:25-26
About the Photo
You might notice that you can’t see the lower level of Cinderella Castle in this photo. There is a reason for that.
Actually, there are a few hundred reasons for that, and those reasons are all of the people that were in between me and Cinderella Castle at this time. I purposefully shot this one high, aiming the camera up over the people who were in the street. Instead of focusing on the people, I just wanted to focus on the castle. Nice and simple.
Also, I had already switched to the 50mm prime lens before shooting this. The wide aperture on that lens made it easy to get a handheld photo even with the darkness approaching.
