Evening at Pickwick Lake

Evening at Pickwick Lake in Tennessee

An early evening view of Pickwick Lake in Tennessee from the Inn at Pickwick Landing State Park.

After our visit to Shiloh National Military Park, Laura and I went to the Inn at Pickwick Landing State Park to spend the night. We had stayed there a few weeks earlier during our church’s couples retreat, and we had really enjoyed it.

When we arrived and went to our room, it was the early evening. All of the rooms at the Inn have a view of Pickwick Lake, as it is the lake is the main reason that most people stay there. I thought the early evening view of the lake from our balcony was just right. We had a nice view of the boat dock, along with the bridge over Pickwick Dam off in the distance.

On our previous trips to Shiloh, we had walked all over the Civil War battlefields, only to have to drive home after tiring ourselves out. After this trip, we decided that we liked being able to drive just a few miles to stay in the Inn.

Hopefully, that doesn’t mean that we are getting old.
