Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge

The main lobby of the Animal Kingdom Lodge at Walt Disney World is behind a large glass wall, and the architecture lets you know immediately that this building represents some place in the wilds of Africa. The roofs appear to be thatched, and metallic “vines” grow up the columns at the sides of the large window.

When I took this photo, we were about to go back inside after seeing the giraffes, zebras, and other animals out in the savanna. There had been some light rain falling, but we didn’t mind braving a few raindrops to see those interesting animals that we don’t get to see every day back here at home.

It seems like I don’t post all that many photos of the Animal Kingdom Lodge, although we do usually drop by there on each visit. And I usually do take several photos when we are there, too. But they don’t usually find their way to the blog here, for whatever reason. Maybe I should work on that more.

About the photo:
Yes, the center of the building is slightly off-center for this photo, but that is how I intended it to be. Actually, I also intended for this photo to be at an angle. But the more I looked at it, the more it looked like it was just unlevel instead of intentional. So I straightened it and cropped it a bit to make it look a little more level. But I still left it off-center, just because I can.
