Dinner at Disney Springs
Restaurant with a View
In our past few Disney Springs visits at Walt Disney World, we have started eating at some of the restaurants there. Many times we have not made an intentional decision to go there to eat. But we happen to be there at dinner time, and we decide that some of the places to eat look good.
It started last year when just Laura and I were there without Jaylin. We ate at Morimoto Asia for our wedding anniversary. A few days later, we were back there at dinner time again, and we decided to eat at Frontera Cocina. Both of those were delicious.
During our June 2018 Florida visit, we were there once again at dinner time one evening, and we decided to check out D-Luxe Burger. We had actually gone by there in 2017, but the line was out the door and around the corner. I love a good hamburger, but I don’t love a long line waiting for a good hamburger. So we skipped it and went to Frontera Cocina instead.
Jaylin loves hamburgers, and so do I, so we thought we would give D-Luxe a try again. We walked up, and there was no line at all. Much different than last year. We placed our orders for our burgers. Laura and Jaylin also got milkshakes to go with theirs.
We decided to go outside to find a seat because it looked like all of the seats inside were full. As soon as we got outside and saw the view, I knew we were in the right place. It is the view that you can see in the photo above. The sun was setting, the Characters in Flight balloon was rising, and it was a perfect evening outside. For some, it might have been a slightly warm evening outside. But the air conditioner was blasting inside, and we would rather be slightly warm than slightly cold, so outside was perfect for us.
It may look like we had the whole place to ourselves, but that was not true. That was actually just a case of perfect timing for the photo. Just a minute or two after this, all of the tables were full of people. And when we had finished our meal and were leaving, the line was out the door and around the corner, just as it had been last year. I guess we got there at just the right time.
And if you were wondering, our burgers were delicious! Apparently, the milkshakes were delicious as well, because Laura and Jaylin both finished theirs off pretty quickly.
A good meal with a good view. And of course good company, too. What more could you ask for?

Eating Well
Everyone seems to put a lot of emphasis on eating these days. Apparently, you aren’t living right unless you are eating well. Savoring every bite. Exploring new tastes and experiences. And then telling all about it.
There are all sorts of websites and blogs out there dedicated to food. Some people take photos of everything before they eat it. There is even a cable channel all about all of that, the very cleverly named Food Network. I guess the Weather Channel name was already taken. And besides, that would have just been too confusing if the Weather Channel was all about food. Sort of like if MTV (aka Music Television) didn’t actually show music videos. But that’s another story.
Anyway, we aren’t quite as into food as some people are. We like a good meal, but we don’t have to plan and organize to make sure we get just the right meal. And we don’t have to talk about it endlessly afterward. In fact, I can’t even tell you the specifics about my hamburger from D-Luxe. It was good, and I enjoyed it. And then I was hungry again a few hours later.
I think that is why I don’t get too caught up in food. You can spend lots of money on a fancy meal, or you can spend just a little money on a less expensive meal. If you choose wisely, you can often get more food on those less-expensive meals than you get on the more expensive meals. And either way, no matter how much or how little it costs, you will be hungry again later.
Nothing against any of you who happen to be food people, of course. There is nothing wrong with that. Just make sure you have your priorities set correctly, and you will be fine. No matter what your thing is.
Yes, there can be enjoyment in food, if that is your thing. But don’t spend too much time, money, or effort chasing something that will not last. Remember to ultimately be chasing the right things.
That is the point of the book of Ecclesiastes in the Old Testament of the Bible. The writer there is encouraging us not to try to hold on to the things that will not last, saying that they are meaningless, or vanity, or futility. The exact word means “vapor,” sort of like trying to catch the morning fog before it disappears.
Instead, pursue things that will last. Things that are important. Things that are really worth it all. It is okay to stop and enjoy a good meal along the way, but don’t forget that you will be needing more later on.
Keep going after the right things. You will be glad you did.
There is nothing better for man than to eat, drink, and enjoy his work. I have seen that even this is from God’s hand, because who can eat and who can enjoy life apart from Him? - Ecclesiastes 2:24-25
About the Photo
For this photo, I used the fisheye lens, which has been absent from several of the photos from this trip that I have shared so far. I did still use the fisheye lens quite a bit on this trip, but I have not shared many of those photos. Yet.
The sun made this photo slightly challenging since it was pointing right at me. I increased the exposure value slightly to bring out the detail under the roof of the restaurant seating area. That also made the sky and the things outside of the seating area a little bright. But I was able to even all of that out by using the Raw file in Photoshop. I think this one turned out really well. It definitely captured the feeling I had while being there. Now if only it could have captured another delicious hamburger instead of just the feeling I had while sitting there eating one, that would really be something.
