Delta Island at Opryland / May, Maybe

Delta Island at the Opryland Hotel

The Delta Island at the Gaylord Opryland Resort is home to a collection of shops and restaurants, surrounded by a boat ride. And all of that is inside the hotel, surrounded by guest rooms and topped by a large glass ceiling.

The architecture of the Delta Island is reminiscent of that found in New Orleans. For me, it is unusual to see the area without many people, as it is pictured here. Usually, the area is filled with people going back and forth, shopping in the shops, or lining up at the ice cream store.

This early morning hour happened to be rather peaceful, however, so I thought it was a good time for a picture.

May, Maybe

I don’t know about you, but for us, May is always a busy month. It seems like we always have something going on. Actually, more than one thing is usually going on at a time, which makes it hard to either try to do everything, or to pick and choose what to do.

Spring sports for Jaylin are usually winding up early in the month, so that has our Saturday mornings covered. This past Saturday was a rare occasion where there was not another event after the baseball game, so we got to go home. And cut the grass. Because that’s something else that always gets busy during the spring. With all the rain we have had so far, the grass is really growing. Actually, it is mostly weeds, but it still has to be cut. Except the continuing rain also makes it difficult to find a dry time to cut it. But this Saturday turned out to be great for that.

Other things we have to do include different church events (including working at a charity motorcycle ride), a chorus concert for friends *, a dance recital for friends *, Laura’s faculty dinner at school, Mother’s Day, activities for the end of the school year, Memorial Day, and more. And then all that other stuff like work, eating, and sleeping. And maybe I can find time for an occasional shower in there somewhere, just so people will still want us to come to things.

So if you ask us to do something in May, chances are good that our answer will be, “Maybe.” Maybe that’s how the month of May got it’s name. Everyone was saying “Maybe” so much that they ran out of time and just had to shorten their answer to “May.” Maybe.

*Not that we put on the chorus concert or dance recital. We just go to watch them. Just to be clear.
