Daily Photo: The Land in Epcot
In honor of Epcot’s 30th anniversary, here is a view from inside The Land in Epcot, found in Future World.
At first glance, this area hasn’t changed all that much from the early days. But in reality, much has changed. The floor layout is quite different, without the large fountain in the middle. The food court has changed names and the sign above the court (and below the main entrance) does not have the rooster that crowed on the hour. Even the balloons hanging from the ceiling are different, because originally there were only three of them. The draped banners were not originally there, and the wall behind the balloons was painted with a mural of stylistic clouds.
Of course, the attractions inside The Land have changed a bit, too. The closest to the original version is Living with the Land, the boat ride that was originally known as Listen to the Land. I miss the song from that one. I also miss the highly original Kitchen Kabaret show, which presented a musical look at good nutrition. After being replaced by the inferior Food Rocks once Nestle took over sponsorship of The Land from Kraft, the whole thing was removed to make way for Soarin’. I still don’t really see what Soarin’ has to do with the rest of the theme of The Land, but maybe that is just me.
Even though the interior of The Land has undergone some significant changes, it still makes for a good photo after all these years.
