Daily Photo: Passing Through Tomorrowland
We get a view of Tomorrowland at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom as we glide overhead on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover. Or, as it will always be known to me and many others of my generation, the WEDway PeopleMover.
Nothing else in Tomorrowland is more relaxing than a ride on the PeopleMover, being whisked all around while looking out on the people and places below. It gives a great overview of the land, and it provides a nice place to sit for a while. It isn’t air-conditioned, but the open-air vehicles allow for a nice breeze, which feels good on all but the hottest days. And best of all, the line usually isn’t very long at all.
PeopleMovers were an important part of Walt Disney’s original concept for his city of EPCOT. Wouldn’t it be neat to be able to ride something like this around your town? Of course, a more commercialized version would probably have enclosed cars with room for standing to make room for more people, making it even more efficient. I would love to ride something like this to work every day.
Oh well, maybe one of these days Tomorrowland will become a reality. Just not the parts with Stitch and Monsters, Inc., please.
