Daily Photo: Mary Blair Mural
This morning, the Google Doodle was a reminder that today would have been the 100th birthday of Mary Blair. Even if you don’t know who Mary Blair is, chances are good that you have seen some of her work. She is probably best known for largely being behind the design style of It’s A Small World, which was first created by Disney for the 1964 New York World’s Fair and now is found in Disney parks around the world.
Her style can also be seen in some of Disney’s most recognized animated movies, such as “Alice in Wonderland,” “Cinderella,” “Peter Pan,” and even “The Three Caballeros.” In addition to her work for Disney, she also worked on several advertising campaigns and children’s books.
So for today, I decided to jump on the Mary Blair bandwagon and include a photo of the mural she created at Disney’s Contemporary Resort in Florida. Of course, this is just a small part of the huge mural. It is so large that it is hard to get all of one side of the mural in a photograph. But I still get a picture of at least part of it just about every time we are there.
