Daily Photo: Imagination Shapes at Epcot

Today’s photo for Epcot’s 30th anniversary is a bit of an abstract look at Journey into Imagination.

If you aren’t quite familiar with this area, it is around the corner from the main Imagination entrance. On one of our early visits, probably around 1984, we found the restrooms, which are to the right along the blue wall. There isn’t really anything special about those restrooms, necessarily, except that they are way back in a corner where most people don’t go. You almost have to be looking for them to find them.

But one thing I remember from that first restroom visit was that the Journey into Imagination background music was playing loudly, and because there weren’t many people there, you could hear it really well. And I really enjoyed that music, too.

Another thing we still do over there is to take a photo of ourselves reflected in the glass pyramid, which you can do if you stand in just the right place. Just about where that guy at the right is standing, actually, although he is looking the wrong way to see his reflection.

And one more reason that I like this area is that it hasn’t changed all that much from the early 1980s, besides some of the colors on the building and the Imagination Institute logo on the cast member door. And of course the loss of that cool background music, too.
