Daily Photo: Abandoned Bridge

Abandoned Bridge over the Tennessee River

On our recent visit to Kentucky Lake, while we were out boating our friends took us down the Tennessee River a bit to see an old abandoned railroad bridge. It was interesting to see the bridge start out across the river and then just stop. That wouldn’t be good if you were trying to cross the river on the bridge, but it was pretty neat to see from the water.

We went underneath the bridge, and we could look up and see the railroad cross ties and track up above. And we saw several birds, too. Apparently, they think the bridge is a great place to live.

There were some “For Sale” signs on the bridge, so if you ever want to own an abandoned railroad bridge, this one could be yours!
