Cruising Through Cabanas on the Disney Fantasy

A Quiet Moment

Palm trees and wooden seats inside the Cabanas buffet on the Disney Fantasy cruise ship

The seating area at Cabanas, the buffet restaurant on the Disney Fantasy cruise ship, is decorated with palm trees and wooden chairs, as seen during our June 2022 Disney Cruise. But at this time, I was not there to eat. I was just cruising through.

If you have read the 2022 Disney Cruise trip report, you know that we were frequent visitors to Cabanas. We ate breakfast there every morning, and we ate lunch there twice. And we had done the same with the similar Cabanas buffet on the Disney Dream on our previous Disney Cruises, too.

What’s not to love about a restaurant where you can walk in and get all the food you want, you have all kinds of choices, and you don’t have to pay anything because it is already included in the price of your cruise? Palm trees, that is what can make it better! As you may know, I like palm trees, too. Especially real palm trees, but these artificial ones are pretty cool. If you look closely, you can see that these palm trees are actually the columns holding up the ceiling. How clever!

No People?

You might be wondering where all the people are if this restaurant is so great. Actually, when I walked through and took the photo, it was late in the afternoon and the restaurant was not currently serving. Whenever we were there to eat, we always had to look around to find a table, because there were lots of people in there. So it was always a little strange to walk through there and find it empty and quiet.

However, due to the design of the Disney Fantasy, we had to walk through Cabanas to get from the pool deck to the aft stairs, which were closest to our rooms. So we walked through there several times when it was like this.

Seeing a place that is normally full of people be empty is a little bit surreal. You know there are supposed to be lots of people there. And you even expect there to be lots of people in there. But there are not. And your brain tells you something is not right.

But in this case, it was fine. Cabanas was not in danger of going out of business. And the next morning, all of the tables were full as expected.

Potential

But if these were normal eating hours, an empty restaurant would seem like it is not living up to its potential, as if it were not doing all it could. There are several people who go through life that way, too, not living up to their potential.

Make sure that you are doing all the good that you can do, so that you are living up to your potential.

“Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can.” (Attributed to John Wesley)

They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life. - 1 Timothy 6:18-19

About the Photo

This was just a quick photo as I was walking through Cabanas. I had been on a photo walk around the Disney Fantasy while it was docked in Cozumel. This was just one of the many sights I saw.

As you can tell, the restaurant lighting was somewhat dim. And the sunlight outside the windows was very bright. I evened things out as much as I could, but you still can’t tell too much about Cozumel through the windows. But I intended the Cabanas interior to be the main focus, anyway.
