Cocoa Beach with Mobius the Goat

A Relaxing Vacation

Mobius the Goat relaxes in a beach chair with his hooves in the sand at Cocoa Beach, Florida, almost as though he were on our vacation.

We recently returned from a Florida trip. It was our first trip in two years, and it was nice and relaxing. Except for one shark encounter, but that is another story for the future.

We spent most of our time in the Kissimmee/Orlando area. No Disney parks for us on this trip, but we did visit Disney Springs several times, and we wandered around a few of the Disney resorts, too. We spent lots of time at the condo pool, and we made two visits to Cocoa Beach.

Yes, there are actual photos of us on this vacation, but I will save those for later on to go along with some of the stories, too.

However, I thought it might be fun to bring Mobius the Goat along, too. Actually, he was only there in my mind and not actually in person. But I looked around for a few occasions to include him in some photos, and one of our empty beach chairs at Cocoa Beach was the perfect opportunity. So while Mobius is sitting there enjoying the view in this photo, his wave board is close by so that he can go out and try to catch a few waves, too, as soon as he decides to leave the comfort of the chair and the shade of the umbrella. Do goats sunburn, too? You can’t be too careful in the Florida sun.

About the Artwork

This artwork is a follow-up to the recent Mobius the Surfing Goat, in that it uses a photo as the background for Mobius. But there are some differences, too.

First, I specifically photographed this scene to be used for this artwork, instead of adding in Mobius to some random photo. So yes, there was actually planning involved in this one. I am not that much of a planner, so actually planning something out is a good thing.

Second, I used a softer outline in this artwork than in the surfing photo. I wanted Mobius to blend in a little more instead of just looking like I drew him on top of the photo. That is still obviously what I did, but this way looks a little more natural. I actually did not have an outline at all to begin with. But that did not look quite right, so I went back and drew a hard outline. After getting Laura’s opinion, we both agreed that the hard outline did not look quite right, either. So then I went in and added the subtle, softer outline that you see here.

I am quite happy with how this all turned out, and I am looking forward to doing some more of these, too.
