Sea Oats and Sand

You may have noticed that there are many beach photos posted here at the Burnsland website. We love going to beaches and spending time there. And while we are there, I love taking photos of what all there is to see.
Whenever I am looking for things to photograph, sea oats always seem to catch my eye. The sand at the beach is always nice, but for photographic purposes it is often just this large area of white space. It is good to have something to break up that sand in a photo.
As I was walking back out to our spot on the beach after taking some photos, I came across this one patch of sea oats out in the sand. It was just perfect for a photo, in my opinion. So not only do you have the yellow-white sand and the blue sky and water here, you also have a nice spot of green right in the middle of it all. Just adding another color to the main colors that are already there.
People Here, People There
In addition to the sea oats, I like all the footprints and tire tracks in the sand here. It looks like a lot of people walked through this area before I did. And it looks like a few of them were pulling wagons, too.
We see more and more wagons at the beach when we are there, usually with a large group and all that they bring. We almost carry enough stuff with us for a wagon, too, but we have not added that to our beach stuff. Fortunately, we have enough hands to carry all that we need.
It would be interesting to try to follow some of those footprints and tracks around to see where the people have gone, but I never have done that. That might tell an interesting story, perhaps.
Also, it looks like there are red things over at the left of the sea oats. I am guessing that those are flower petals. Probably someone used them in a photo shoot, or maybe there was an early morning wedding there.
You never know what you might see at the beach. That actually reminds me of a couple of series of posts that I wrote some years back about “At the Beach We Saw…” Just to document some of the things that go on while we are there.
Beaches are fascinating places! And the people there make them even more fascinating sometimes.

About the Photo
This scene was originally shot as a 5-exposure bracket to be an HDR photo. I even processed it that way with Aurora HDR. But I was not quite satisfied with the look of the photo. So then I processed it again in Aurora with just the base exposure, and that turned out much better for the style of photo that I like. That was a good experiment to see that if I don’t always shoot five brackets of something it will be okay. Sometimes some things do work better as bracketed exposures, but sometimes you are just fine with a single exposure, too. Good to know!
