Old Photos: Cocoa Beach Pier

Swimmers enjoy the waters around the Cocoa Beach Pier in Florida in this view from 2007, continuing the Old Photos topic of the week.

During our first few visits to Cocoa Beach, we would find a spot near the World-Famous Cocoa Beach Pier, as they say. Not sure how famous it is around the world, but that is what they call it.

It seemed like there were always lots of people around the Pier, and at times it almost got to be crowded on the beach and in the water. That was one of the reasons that we started looking around for somewhere else to swim, and we eventually found Lori Wilson Park.

I like the smaller crowds and free parking at Lori Wilson Park, but I do miss having the Pier as a backdrop for, or even a main subject in, my photos. I always thought the old wooden structure with the concrete-reinforced supports looked cool. And at times I would even try to get a shot of the water splashing against the supports.

So while we haven’t been to the Pier in a few years, I still think it is pretty neat.
