Castaway Creek at Typhoon Lagoon

Typhoon Lagoon, one of the water parks at Walt Disney World, is known for its large wave lagoon, as well as its speed slides. But one of our favorite things there is Castaway Creek.

Castaway Creek is Typhoon Lagoon’s “lazy river,” on which you can get on a tube and float around leisurely for as long as you want. The river winds all around the park, and one complete trip takes about 20 minutes if you get off where you started. But you can get on and off at several different locations, so there are all kinds of possibilities. And as you can see here, the river winds through caves and under waterfalls at times, too.

Hopefully, the fact that we enjoy floating around lazily doesn’t mean that we are getting old. After all, Castaway Creek was our favorite thing on our first visit to Typhoon Lagoon, and that was 10 years ago. You could probably argue that it means that we were old to begin with, but I would argue with you about that. And besides, I don’t really feel any older now than I did then. So maybe instead the more correct argument was that we are just as lazy now as we were back then. Not that we are necessarily all that lazy, though, but rather just that our laziness level has stayed the same.

Anyway, winding through Typhoon Lagoon on Castaway Creek is the perfect way to spend a nice, warm day. Wish I were there right now.
