A Boat on Bay Lake at Walt Disney World

A boat cruises along on Bay Lake at Walt Disney World, with the Contemporary Resort in the background, as seen during our 2019 Florida Summer Vacation.

When we get a chance during our Walt Disney World visit, we enjoy riding these boats on Bay Lake. Sometimes, we make it a point to go over to the Wilderness Lodge just to ride the boats. These particular boats run between Wilderness Lodge, the Fort Wilderness Campground, and the Contemporary Resort. We usually hop off at each stop to look around for a while before boarding a boat to our next destination.

This photo above was actually taken from a boat just like that one. Our boat and the other boat were passing each other, and everything lined up just right with the Contemporary Resort in the background. And there is the crane for the TRON Coaster construction in the background, too. I could have digitally removed it, but I left it there for historical reference.

The boats are slow and relaxing, and they are a great way to spend a lazy afternoon. I highly recommend taking a ride on one if you get the chance!

Shorter Days

As we move farther in to fall now, the days are getting shorter and shorter. I have some of the lights in our house on timers, and I keep having to adjust those timers to come on earlier because it gets dark earlier. Not a big deal, it is just part of the changing of the seasons.

That earlier darkness means that there is not that much light left outside when I get home. I don’t usually rush home and do yard work anyway, instead saving it for the weekend. But it is nice to know that I can relax and not feel pressure to do it at night because I could not get it done anyway.

One of the things that I do like about this time of year is the longer shadows caused by the lower angle of the sun. That sun angle gives a different quality of light. It is pretty cool and a nice change from how things have been for the past several months.

Laura and Bubba in the late afternoon

Here, Laura and Bubba go for a late afternoon walk, with the long shadows of the trees giving them some shade. Even though we have had cooler temperatures this week, the sun was still making it warm, and Laura said she was thankful for the shade.

Season changes can be interesting, sometimes!

Bible Verse

For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods. In his hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are his also. The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land. - Psalm 95:3-5

About the Photo

The main photo was shot with my Sony camera and processed using Aurora HDR, similar to many of the recent photos I have shared here. Nothing really unusual. Except that I really liked how Aurora brought out the cloud textures.

The photo of Laura and Bubba was shot with my iPhone XR and processed using the Lightroom iPhone app. It does a good job for something quick like that, I think. It is nice to have some different options sometimes.

Photo: A single Raw exposure, processed in Aurora HDR. Read more about photography tips, photo software, camera gear, and more at Steve’s Photography Tips.
