Boardwalk Resort Across the Lake
A view of the Boardwalk Resort at Walt Disney World as seen from across the lake, as ominous clouds hover overhead. From our July 2022 Florida Trip.
As you might know, one of the activities we like to do during our Florida trips is to walk around the lake to all of the Epcot Resorts, stopping at each one to have a look around. This most recent trip was no different, as we did just that one afternoon. And of course, photos are always involved in these walks, too.
As you can see, there were some pretty threatening clouds above the Boardwalk Resort. Spoiler alert: it did rain on us. But that did not slow us down all that much. We did get a little wet, but not too much. Besides, it was a summer afternoon in Florida, so the rain did not exactly catch us by surprise.
Laura and the Boardwalk Resort
One of the fun things about vacations is not having a firm plan. At least, that is how we do vacations. I know some people have to have every minute of every day planned out. That is fine if that works for you. But we just go with the flow.
Because we did not have a firm plan or somewhere to be at a specific time, the rain did not bother us all that much. We were going to ride the Skyliner, but it closed due to lightning. No problem, we just waited until later on and rode it when it was open. We ended up getting supper from a sandwich shop in the Yacht Club Resort, which we had not planned on. But then we did not have a real plan for supper before that, anyway. And when we did finally ride the Skyliner, boarding at the Epcot station, it ended up being right at 9:00 PM, which was when the fireworks started at World Showcase Lagoon. So we got to see fireworks from the air as we rode along!
We could not have planned it any better than that. And if we had been trying to be there right at that time, there would have been apprehension and anxiety that we would not make it on time, or that something else could go wrong. But instead, we just rolled along through the evening and ended up with a nice surprise.
Schedules are good sometimes, and they are necessary at other times. But then there are those times when it works out better to just go along and enjoy whatever comes up.
Do that with life as much as you can. Don’t overplan, and then enjoy the little surprises that come your way. They can be big blessings sometimes.
And he said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing.” - Luke 12:22-23
About the Photos
To be honest, I may have processed the first photo in a way that brought out the clouds and made them look a little more menacing. They may have not looked quite that dark and stormy in real life. Not that I added any clouds to the photo. I just made them look a little darker than they were.
I have taken several photos of the Boardwalk Resort before, but this one definitely has the most yellow tones of any that I have posted. Maybe I used just a little too much color saturation here, but I like that this photo is different from the rest. Why keep posting the same thing every time?
Photo: Each photo is a single Raw exposure, processed in GIMP and Raw Therapee. Read more about photography tips, photo software, camera gear, and more at Steve’s Photography Tips.
