Boardwalk in the Sun
One of the Walt Disney World hotels we visited was the Boardwalk Resort. It was the late afternoon, and the sun was pretty intense, as you can see here. Actually, it was hot, but it wasn’t too bad. We did enjoy a snack of a Coke and some ice cream, though. That made the warm sun feel better.
We hadn’t visited the Boardwalk in a while. In fact, our previous visit was right after the Boardwalk opened, just about fifteen years ago. Not sure why we hadn’t been in so long. Because it was a nice place to visit.

Vacation Bible School
This week is our Vacation Bible School at church. It has been going well, and there have been kids everywhere, it seems.
When I was a kid, we would also go to Vacation Bible School at church every summer. We would have a Bible lesson, make some sort of craft that went along with it, have a snack, and all meet together to sing some songs. Our snack was two cookies and a cup of fruit punch. And the ladies watched very closely to make sure you just got two cookies.
But now, of course, things are different. In this entertainment age, just telling a Bible story and making a craft are not going to keep anyone’s attention very long. We have skits. Well written, extensively rehearsed skits. With video portions, too. And elaborate costumes. We have overall story lines, and each class somehow ties in with the main theme. We have activities, such as using clues to search for missing parables this year. We have lights and sound effects. It is all pretty exciting.
And we have snacks, too. The other night, they had pizza bagel bites. That’s a long way from sugar cookies! I must say, the bagel bites were delicious hot out of the oven.
All of these activities (and snacks) create quite a bit of enthusiasm and excitement. The kids are genuinely excited to be there each night. And that goes for the adults, too. Of course, the main goal of Vacation Bible School is still the same as it was all those years ago when I was a kid back in the less-technological days: to teach kids about the Bible. I know every effort is being made to do that. And I think the kids are learning from it, too. I know mine is.
