Blue Umbrellas at the Beach in Jamaica
Very Blue
People lounge under blue umbrellas at Puerto Seco Beach Park in Discovery Bay, Jamaica, as seen during our June 2022 Disney Cruise.
As is true of all of our beach adventures, an umbrella is almost a necessity if we are going to be out at the beach for any length of time. I don’t know that they would have wanted us to bring a big umbrella on the cruise ship. Fortunately, the beach park provided them as part of our shore excursion. As you can see, they were popular with everyone at this beach in Jamaica, not just us.
The only tricky part in a situation like this is that everyone’s umbrella looks the same. So you might have to look twice to make sure you are going to the right place. Otherwise, you might be getting into someone else’s stuff. And that someone might not be too happy about it. And then you might not be too happy, either.
It is great to have fun in the sun! But it is also nice to have a break from the sun at times. So I was thankful for these beach umbrellas in Jamaica for that reason. And of course, they made for a great photo subject, too.
Moderation
I always find it interesting how so many things are good in moderation. But too much or too little of those same things can be bad. The sun is a great example of that. Too much sun can cause burned skin. Too little sun can cause you to be cold, and it has been shown to affect your mood, too.
That same thing holds true for such things as water, fire, money, people, food, and so many other necessities in our lives. You need all of those things, but too much or too little can cause you some big problems.
You could even add time to that list. Too little time makes you feel rushed. Too much time can lead to bad things, depending on what you spend that time on. Have you ever heard of someone with too much time on their hands? I don’t think that just means that they are wearing two watches. That means they are starting to get into trouble with all of that extra time.
So enjoy the good things of life in moderation. And help out those who need help with that, too.
For everything there is an appointed time, and an appropriate time for every activity on earth. - Ecclesiastes 3:1
About the Photo
Have we passed the moderate amount for these partial color photos? Maybe, maybe not. But I am guessing that they will slow down in appearance here sooner or later.
Unlike some of the previous photos, in this photo, I did not let any color through except for the color of the umbrellas. I did not fade in any of the other colors. I did try it, but this way works better.
This is just my opinion here, but red umbrellas would have worked better for this. Red stands out more against a monochrome background than blue does. I suppose that is because our eyes see blue as a little closer to those shades of gray than red would be. But the umbrellas were blue, so I left them blue. Next time, however, I might keep my eyes out for something red.
