Benches at Disney's Boardwalk Resort
Benches along the boardwalk at the appropriately-named Boardwalk Resort at Walt Disney World provide a nice place to sit and rest.
These benches are a cool detail of the boardwalk, because they have such a nice view, no matter which way you face. On one side, you have the interesting architecture of the Boardwalk Resort itself, which has all sorts of interesting features to it. And on the other side, you get a nice view of the lake and of the other Epcot Resorts across the way, along with the boats going this way and that in the water. So no matter which direction you choose, you can’t lose. And if you have some ice cream or a soft drink from one of the nearby shops, it gets even better.
Of course, the sun on a hot day might be a slight problem, melting your ice cream or warming up your soft drink, so you might not want to linger there too long. For us, the clouds and a few drops of rain here and there actually made for some pleasant temperatures, which was nice. So on this day, the clouds add a third nice view, someone there probably wouldn’t like it if you just lie down on the bench to look at the clouds. However, given the number of people sitting on the benches at the time I took this photo, it might not be that big of a deal.
And to me, that indicates a little bit of a problem. Too often, we rush right by without slowing down to enjoy the view. Leaving lots of empty benches just waiting for someone to sit and see what there is to see. Don’t be that kind of person. Stop to notice the world (and the other people) around you sometime. You might just appreciate it.

Actually, besides sitting and enjoying the view, they were also just waiting on me to finish getting the photos that I wanted, and I guess the benches are good for that, too.
Anyway, here’s a detail of the benches that I like:
These benches aren’t just some random benches that you go out and buy at Home Depot or somewhere, like the ones that people sometimes put in their yards. No, these were specially made for the Boardwalk Resort, as indicated by having “Disney’s Boardwalk” cast into the metal ends of each bench. That also means that they can’t just pick them up and run them over to one of the other resorts, because those other resorts aren’t Disney’s Boardwalk, after all. Just another minor detail that helps make this fantasy world seem all the more real.

About the photo:
I didn’t necessarily plan for the clouds to look as cool as they do here, in that I didn’t sit around and wait for the right day with cool clouds. But they did turn out well here, once again proving my thoughts that in photos clouds can often be more interesting than a plain-old blue sky.
And I didn’t have to wait around until there were very few people in the photo, either. There just weren’t many people on the Boardwalk that day. I guess they were taking advantage of the cooler temperatures to go to one of the parks or something.
