The Beauty of Hawaiʻi

A Great View

Hawaiʻi is a wonderful place full of all kinds of natural beauty. You probably don’t need me to tell you that, however. That is one of the things that Hawaiʻi is famous for.

We had seen that beauty on television and in movies for years. Before we went, I was wondering if it was really like that in real life. I knew there would be beautiful places there, but I was not sure that everything would be like that.

When we got there, I was not disappointed. Just on the drive from the Līhuʻe airport to our hotel at Poʻipū, we saw tall mountains, beautiful fields, amazing trees, and colorful flowers. And all of that was before we were anywhere near a beach. It was all wonderful. And it was even better than how it looks on TV. Or better than in these pictures that I post, too.

Even just looking out across the hotel grounds, past the tall palm trees, and out to the water breaking on the black lava rocks was a beautiful sight. Yes, that is partly due to the beautiful grounds at the Grand Hyatt, but they are just playing off of the natural beauty that is already there.

Time Sure Flies

It has now been one year and one week since we returned home from our Kauaʻi trip. It is funny how sometimes that seems like so long ago and then at other times it seems very recent. We have done lots of things in that short time of one year, but sometimes it all seems like a blur.

I remember when I was a kid that time seemed to take forever. You could tell me that something was a month away, and it might as well be years away. That month that I was looking forward to something seemed to last forever.

These days, time seems to move much more quickly. Something that is a year away will be here before you know it. Something that was a year ago seems like it was only a week or two ago. I have often heard it said that time speeds up as you get older. The older I get, the more I believe that.

Hereʻs hoping I can make the most of my time, and that you can, too.

Bible Verse

“O my God,” I say, “take me not away in the midst of my days— you whose years endure throughout all generations!” - Psalm 102:24

About the Photo

To get the look that I wanted out of this photo, I once again turned to Aurora HDR. That software was able to bring out the colors that I wanted it the sky, the water, and the grass. Vibrant colors were all over Hawaiʻi, so I wanted this photo to reflect that. And I think it does.
