A Beautiful Day at Sea on the Disney Dream
The blue sky and blue water add to a perfect day at sea on the Disney Dream, one of the ships of the Disney Cruise Line.
This time last year, we were getting close to going on our fourth cruise with the Disney Cruise Line. As is always true ahead of a trip, there was a little apprehension that it would be a good one, but of course, it turned out to be just fine. You can read all about it and see lots more photos in our 2015 Disney Cruise Trip Report if you want to see just how much fun we had.
And now a year later, we don’t have a cruise planned for this summer. But that’s okay because you can’t do something like that every year and still have it be something really special, right? And besides, we can’t pay for something big like that every year and still afford to eat. And I have grown accustomed to eating, so I guess we will just stick to cruising whenever we can.
But as school is about to end and the summer is almost here, I’m sure we will still have a swell time, even if we don’t have a big cruise planned. We do have a trip or two coming up, just nothing quite as grand as a Disney Cruise. And that is just fine. Sometimes, the smaller adventures can be just as much fun as the bigger adventures. And you can even afford to have a few more of the smaller adventures than the bigger adventures. So don’t worry about us not going on a cruise this year (I know you were concerned for us), because we will be just fine. No need to send money to our cruise fund or anything.
In the meantime, it is still nice to look back and remember the good times. Because this view pictured here was indeed quite good.
And because I often like to include a closer look at the photo, here is a detail of the ship portion of the above photo:
That part is nice, too. But to me, the real draw of the main photo is the blue sky and water. There is just something about that sort of view that relaxes me. Which probably explains why I like to sit and watch the water so often when we cruise. Ahhh.
Then God said, “Let there be an expanse between the waters, separating water from water.” So God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above the expanse. And it was so. God called the expanse “sky.” Evening came and then morning: the second day. - Genesis 1:6-8
About the Photo
I wanted to get the blue of the sky and the water to look just right, along with the colors of the ship, so I layered together two different exposures from the same Raw file. I was looking for a photo to process for that Photography Tips post, and this one was perfect for what I was wanting to show. But I liked how the photo turned out so much that I thought it needed to be featured on its own, too. So here it is.
