Beach Walkway / Burnsland List of Relevance

Beach Walkway

It is a proven fact that summer is coming. Of course, that’s hard to imagine on a morning when our thermometer at home read 10 degrees. That’s just one degree away from single digits. But either way, it is cold.

So here is a nice, dreamy summer scene - a walkway across the dunes to Cocoa Beach, Florida. Turn the heat up, put on some shades, and stare at this for a while. And it will probably still be cold outside.

The Burnsland List of Relevance for 2/6-2/12

Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night can keep the Burnsland List of Relevance from coming. However, large sums of cash just might do the trick.

  1. Abraham Lincoln - Tomorrow will be the 202nd birthday of the Great Emancipator. I must have missed the 200th birthday celebration with the big birthday hat on Mount Rushmore.
  2. Thomas Edison - Today is the 164th birthday of the Wizard of Menlo Park. I wonder if he ever dreamed that the phonograph would lead to DJ Jazzy Jeff scratching on the turntables?
  3. Ronald Reagan - Last Sunday was the 100th birthday of The Gipper. I love the guy, but should we put him on Mount Rushmore? Should we add Mona Lisa’s sister, Francine, to her painting?
  4. Captain Jack Sparrow - Sorry, I ran out of birthdays. So how about a summer movie blockbuster tie-in instead?
  5. Snow - Sorry, I tried to go a week without mentioning snow. But it just keeps on coming back around. At least it melts.
  6. Football - It’s over. What will we watch on TV until the fall?
  7. Yellow - Did you ever realize that “yellow” is “wolley” spelled backwards? I bet they didn’t teach you that in school.
  8. Burt Reynolds - It’s his birthday today too, actually. Yeah, I got nothing.
