Beach Umbrella Lit By the Sun

I always like how the sunlight comes through our beach umbrella to make for an interesting view, lighting up the umbrella from behind. Much better than staring directly at the sun, of course.

I was initially worried by the fact that most beach umbrellas don’t actually block all of the sunlight, depending on the SPF listed on the umbrella’s tag. But now, I don’t think they let enough sunlight through to actually cause a problem. And besides, if they didn’t let any light through at all, this photo would just be of a dark octagonal-shaped blog against that nice blue sky, and that wouldn’t be nearly as interesting.

Now if they would just figure out a way to make beach umbrellas 100% wind-proof, that would be ideal. But then if they did that, it would probably be way too heavy to carry across the beach to your spot. And as you can see here, we already have plenty of other stuff to carry with us. The last thing we need is a 100 pound, immovable umbrella.
