Beach Memories from Kauaʻi
Take Me Back
Waves roll onto the shore with blue water and mountains in the distance at Anahola Beach on the island of Kauaʻi in Hawaiʻi, as seen during our 2018 Kauaʻi Trip.
I have mentioned it already in a previous post, but I still have lots and lots of photos from Kauaʻi that I have not posted yet. I like to go through them and pull one out from time to time, and that is what I did here.
Anahola Beach was the first beach that we visited in Kauaʻi. I was immediately drawn to this view of the waves and the mountains. The lighting was actually slightly better looking in the opposite direction, but there were no mountains that way. So I took several photos looking in this direction, figuring I could improve them during processing.
Mountains are cool. Waves are cool. Put them both together and you have something really neat!
Back to School
As always happens this time of year, school has started back again. If you are married to a teacher and have a teenage child, the beginning of the school year impacts your schedule quite a bit. Or if your area is like our area, you can tell when school starts back by the sudden increase in morning traffic, too.
The beginning of school always signifies the end of the summer to me, even though the calendar will say that there is still another month of summer left. No matter when the next equinox is, summer activities have mostly ended for us.
And with that end of summer activities, I starting thinking about the beach more. I suppose that is because we are not able to go now that school has started back. It is a case of wanting what you can’t have, I guess.
This summer, we only spent one day at a beach, and that was a short day due to the early afternoon rain. That was at Cocoa Beach in Florida. I am not complaining, however. Any time we get to go to the beach is a good time, whether it is one day or several days.
If you are involved in school in some way, I hope your year is a great one! And I will be looking forward to our next beach trip, too.
Bible Verse
O Lord God of hosts, who is mighty as you are, O Lord, with your faithfulness all around you? You rule the raging of the sea; when its waves rise, you still them. - Psalm 89:8-9
About the Photo
As I mentioned above, due to the angle of the sun this photo was rather bland, to begin with. But thanks to the information stored in the Raw file, I was able to bring out the color of the water and the color in the distant mountains, so that everything did not look quite so gray and dull.
Processing was done with Aurora HDR, because I knew that it would give the colorful final image that I was wanting. I switch back and forth with photo programs sometimes, but that is the main one I am using right now.
