This Way to the Beach
A narrow opening in the shrubbery leads to the beach at Castaway Cay, the Disney Cruise Line’s Bahamas island, in this scene from our 2017 Disney Cruise. Fortunately, there is not anyone there taking tickets or checking admission to the beach at this entrance. Admission to the beach is free and easy at Castaway Cay. You can come and go as you please.
The only trick is finding how to actually get to the beach from the walkways. But don’t worry, because there are several breaks in the growth along the path there. Besides, you wouldn’t want to try to climb through those bushes. We have seen some rather large lizards. Large is a relative term here because we only have very small lizards at home. So any lizard longer than two inches is large to us. We have also seen a cat or two on Castaway Cay over the years. Who knows what else might be lurking in there? You wouldn’t want to startle any of the wildlife, just to be safe.
Castaway Cay Beach Scene
I love scenes like this from Castaway Cay and other beaches. Just a general view of the sand and the palm trees, with some water out in the distance. Nice and serene, even with the clouds overhead. The colorful beach umbrellas add a lot to the scene, too.
Wouldn’t it be nice if this were your backyard? Although if it were your backyard, you would probably suddenly have lots more friends. Especially on the sunny days. I would be your friend, especially if you would let me use your beach. Won’t you be my neighbor? I would probably even make you some cookies or a grilled cheese sandwich or something.
Wouldn’t it be nice to have friends like that?

About the photo
I actually processed two versions of this photo to see which one I liked the best. I did one version with only one layer, and I did a second version with separate layers to darken the clouds and lighten the palm fronds. Want to guess which one this is?
Okay, I won’t keep you guessing. This one is the single layer version. While sometimes it is good to use different layers for different elements in your photos, at other times you might get even better results with just one layer and much less work.
The photo was still processed using Photoshop and Nik Filters to give it that special look. But when all of that was done to the multiple layer version, it looked way overdone. This one is much more pleasing, at least to my eyes.
