Beach Dreams

Beach dreams at Cocoa Beach, Florida

It is that time of year again. Christmas has come and gone. January and the full force of winter are here. The days are often gray and overcast. And I start dreaming about the beach.

After all, the beach in summer is everything that here in the winter isn’t. The beach is warm. The beach is sunny. The beach isn’t work. Of course, going to the beach costs extra money that you don’t have to pay to stay here, but that is a minor issue if you are dreaming, right?

I’m sure I am not the only one dreaming of somewhere that is warm and sunny on a cold winter day. You don’t think that Disney broadcasts the Christmas Parade from the parks on Christmas day just because they really love Christmas, do you? No, they do their best to make everything look warm, sunny, and fun, hoping that people in their cold winter homes will start planning a trip there, even if they can’t go until the warm, sunny summer. Works for me.

Back to the photo above, I don’t know whose chairs those are, but I am glad that they were there. To me, they add an interesting foreground element to what would otherwise be an ordinary photo of people at the beach. Not that there is anything wrong with that, of course.
