Back from the Beach / Observations of the Past Week(s)
Back from the Beach
If you were wondering why things were rather quiet around here last week, that was because Laura and I were enjoying a week at one of our favorite places, Cocoa Beach, Florida.
It was a nice, relaxing week. We spent lots of time out at the beach. We saw two beach weddings, and may or may not have ended up in the background of their pictures. Not that we were trying to be in the pictures, just that we kept ending up in that general direction. We enjoyed going to see Captain America at the movie theater, because it seems like we don’t get to go to movies quite as often as we used to. And we enjoyed a nice evening trip over to Lake Buena Vista, too. Because you just can’t be that close to Walt Disney World without dropping by for at least a couple of hours.
And don’t worry about Jaylin - we didn’t leave him at home all by himself. He got to spend a fun week at his grandparents’ house. Nothing wrong with that.
Of course, I took lots of pictures, too. It wouldn’t be a trip without that, would it? So here is one for starters. Makes me wish I were right back there again.

Observations of the Past Week(s) – 7/16-7/29
Here are the Observations of the Past Weeks from Twitter and/or Facebook. Plural this time, because there wasn’t a post like this last week. See above if you’re wondering why.
Facebook is telling me that my anniversary with Laura is Sunday, and I should send her a message. Somehow, I don’t think that would go well. (Don’t worry - I did more than just send a message.)
Facebook has friends, Twitter has followers, Google+ has circles. Whatever happened to people? (And I’m not talking about the magazine.)
42 years ago today, men first walked on the Moon. Although I wasn’t around to see it, it’s still cool! (And now I think it’s time to go back.)
A fool and his money are soon parted. Or elected to public office. (Or maybe both.)
The end of the Space Shuttle program is just a bit sad. (Now they should hurry up and start something new.)
95 degrees, heat index 101. Take that, all you “I love winter!” people. (I still love the summer. Heat and all.)
For some reason, I have the song “The Heat Is On” stuck in my head. I don’t know why. (Probably had something to do with the heat outside. Just a guess.)
It’s Christmas in July! (An Alabama radio station playing in the restaurant we stopped at was playing Christmas music for the weekend. Strange.)
Today is a good day. (That could have been repeated for every day we were at the beach, actually.)
Watching the end of “A Few Good Men”. Never seem to see the beginning of this movie. I guess I can’t handle the truth. (Or maybe I just can’t handle the beginning.)
Today, I had the pleasure of being in the background of some complete strangers’ wedding ceremony pictures. (Same thing happened the next day, too.)
I looked up something the old fashioned way - I used my iPhone instead of my iPad. (Go ahead - call me a rebel.)
Words from the Bible
Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. - Matthew 6:19-21
