Animator's Palate Christmas Tree on a Disney Cruise

O Christmas Tree

A Christmas tree with colorful lights sits in the lobby outside the Animator’s Palate restaurant on the Disney Dream cruise ship, as seen during our 2018 Christmas Disney Cruise.

I liked how this was not your traditional Christmas tree. Instead of being a green tree, it was a silver tinsel tree, and it was filled with colorful lights and ornaments. That very much goes with the theme of the Animator’s Palate restaurant, as things get more colorful as the evening goes on.

However, it really fit with the original Animator’s Palate restaurant back in the early Disney Cruise Line days. Back then, most everything started out in black and white. The servers’ vests were even black and white. As the evening went on, colorful lights started to add some atmosphere, and somewhere along the way, the servers would flip their vests inside out to have the colored side visible. By the end of the evening, the room was full of color, much like the progress of making an animated movie.

These days, everything has much more color the whole time, as the focus is more on Crush from Finding Nemo going around and talking to the different tables. Still a cool show, but a little different from the old days.

Still, it does make sense to have a colorful tree go with a restaurant all about animation!

Lots More

Even though our Christmas cruise on the Disney Dream was almost a year ago, I did not post all that many Christmas photos after our trip, except for the ones that were in the parts of the trip report. That means I still have several to share here.

Also, we are starting to decorate our house for Christmas, and I always like sharing photos of that, too. So there will probably be a mixture of home Christmas photos and cruise Christmas photos.

But no, we aren’t on a Christmas Disney Cruise right now. Whenever I post photos like that, even though I thought I have said that they are old, someone still asks, “Hey, did you just get back from a cruise?” Yes, we did. About a year ago.

But that doesn’t mean we can’t still enjoy the photos, right?

Happy Christmas season to you!

Bible Verse

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!” - Luke 2:13-14

About the Photo

Because of lower light levels at night on the ship, I had switched to the 50mm prime lens because of its larger aperture to let in more light. It worked well for this photo, I think.

Processing was done in Aurora HDR to bring out the shadow detail and to make the colorful lights even more colorful. I like that it all looks bright and happy, just as you would want for a Christmas tree.
