Always Something
Yesterday, I was thinking about complaining. Seems like there is always something to complain about. A flat tire on the car. The internet is out at home. Lots of rain. Even more rain. And that is just the short list.
But really, who wants to hear all about that. If you want to hear someone whine about nothing in particular, turn on an old episode of Seinfeld. Or just about any of the daytime talk shows. Or a lot of other things on television.
So instead of being a complainer, I will try to keep things positive.
There is a church building close to our house that I pass almost every day. And their sign still has its Thanksgiving message up. It says, “There is always something to be thankful for.”
That is a really good thought. Just like there is always something to complain about, there is also always something to be thankful for. The only difference is your outlook on things. If you are looking for something to complain about, you will find it. If you are looking for something to be thankful for, you will find it.
Sure, Thanksgiving is over, if you are talking about the holiday. But who says that has to be just one day? After all, in 1 Corinthians 5:16-18, Paul says, “Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
So I am still thankful for all the things I was thankful for at Thanksgiving - Laura, Jaylin, family, friends, home, health, stuff, and so on.
But sometimes it helps to be reminded of just how thankful we should be. Because there is always something.
