Along an Ocean Trail in Hawaiʻi
Wonderful View
One of the many nice views along the trail leading to the Pineapple Dump on the island of Kauaʻi in Hawaiʻi, as seen during our 2018 Kauaʻi Trip.
As you might guess from its name, the Pineapple Dump was pretty interesting to see, even if they were not dumping pineapples from there anymore. However, I did not know that we would see such interesting scenery on the trail to get there.
As you might remember from reading the trip report, we missed the turn for the Pineapple Dump, so we drove a little farther and decided to walk back to it. The trail was an old railroad bed that the pineapple trains used. Those trains had some great views as they rolled on close to the shore, such as this view right here. I wonder if those engineers knew how good they had it?
We passed several places like this along the way, and there were lots of trails leading off the paved path down to the shore. I would guess that any beach along any trail in Hawaiʻi is pretty popular, and yet we did not see many people out at the beaches. Perhaps there are enough beaches that people can spread out pretty well and not all be in one place. That sounds nice!
Keeping Focused
While we were walking along this trail in Hawaiʻi, it was difficult not to stop and just go down to the beach to spend our time there. However, that was not our main purpose at the time. We were there to see the Pineapple Dump, and then we were going on to another beach after that. It would not have been the end of the world if we had just gone to the beach and skipped the Pineapple Dump, but then we might have wondered what we missed. And we did get to a beach later on that day, so it was all good.
Maybe you have trouble staying focused on your goal sometimes. I know I do. I can get started on something, and then there is always something else pulling my attention away. Sometimes those things are good things, but even good things can distract you from what you should be doing.
It takes some discipline and willpower to keep pressing on to your goal. It sometimes takes passing up something else that might be good. And it takes a bit of faith in the fact that your goal is really worthwhile.
Staying focused on your goal may not be easy, but it can be done!
Bible Verse
I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 3:14
About the Photo
This is another example of me trying to keep my processing under control. The initial version of this photo was way too heavy in color saturation. I thought it looked pretty good at first, but then I dialed it back some, and I like this not quite so saturated version even better. Color is great, but it can sometimes overwhelm the natural beauty of the scene.
Oh yes, and this is not about the photo, but you are not dreaming that I had just used that verse from Philippians a few days ago. But it went well with the thoughts above in this post, so I did not mind using it again!
